Ankit Tiwari and his brother Anurag Tiwari, living in Siwan district of Bihar, used to do competitive exams coaching while staying in Delhi. During this, he realized that most of the students are from outside, who belong to middle class or lower middle class families. It is very difficult for them to live in a city like Delhi and pay expensive fees. It was not easy for these two brothers to pay the fees themselves.
In view of this problem, the idea of online coaching came in the mind of both the brothers. Then in the year 2017 launched a website and started providing coaching. Today more than 12 thousand students are associated with them and their annual turnover is 30 lakh rupees.
Anurag’s father, 27, works in a private job in Rajasthan. Because of this, his early education took place in Rajasthan. After this he did his graduation and masters from Delhi. Whereas 29-year-old Ankit has done Company Secretary (CS) course.
Anurag points out that Internet technology was growing rapidly in 2016-17. Almost everyone had a mobile phone and cheap internet packs too. So we planned that the subjects which are being taught in the class room can also be studied online. I talked to my brother Ankit about this, he also wanted to do something of his own. He liked my idea and we both started working.
Initially, the recorded videos of teachers were sold online.
In the year 2017, both the brothers together prepared a website named ‘Lecture Dekho’. After this, some big teachers of Delhi were associated with them and started selling videos of their recorded classes.
Anurag says that we had kept the price very low and we had video lectures of many professional courses including medical, engineering, CA. We also benefited from this and soon we started getting better response from the students.
They say that then we were working on the revenue model. That is, some part of the earnings from the number of video sales used to be ours and some part of those teachers used to be. We kept working on this model for about a year. This earned us a lot of income.
Then launched his own teaching platform
Talking to Anurag says that when our work got solid enough, we decided that instead of selling the courses of other teachers, we will develop our own course, so that we can design it according to our own, its fee is our own. to keep accordingly. After that we did a little research. Analyzed different online learning apps, then hired some teachers.
After this, we focused on the education of children from class 1 to class 12 along with competitive exams. We started providing them online coaching through our website. They say that our focus was on students from small cities instead of metro cities. We also kept the course fee so that any student can easily buy it.
A year after this i.e. in 2019, Anurag launched the mobile app. This helped him a lot in building a presence on the teaching platform. Students from different cities started joining him. Within two years, about 12,000 students were added. They say that even in the Corona era, our business has got a very good response. With this, the online platform has emerged as a strong option among the people.
What are the features on the app?
At present, 20 teachers are associated with Anurag. It has experts in different subjects. Apart from this, 15 employees also work with him. That is, they have given employment to 35 people. Along with this, Anurag tells that the children who cannot pay the fees. We also give scholarships to such students. We have waived fees up to 100% of many children. Not only this, we have also kept a cash prize as a reward for the top three children in each class.
