Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has resigned. He has submitted his resignation letter to the Governor of the state, SN Arya. News agency PTI has given this information. However, for what reasons Dev has resigned, it is not yet known. Biplab Kumar Dev said on his resignation that the party wants him to work for the strength of the organization. According to sources, Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik is believed to be the frontrunner in the race for the post of Chief Minister. Party leaders say that the meeting of the BJP Legislature Party will be held in Tripura only on Saturday and a new leader will be elected in it. Bhupendra Yadav, Vinod Tawde will be sent as observers for the election of the new leader in the BJP Legislature Party meeting.

Assembly elections are to be held in Tripura next year i.e. in March 2023. Whereas the last assembly election was held in February 2018. Tripura has a 60-member Legislative Assembly. With 43 per cent votes, the BJP formed the government for the first time in the state by winning 36 seats and ending the long-standing Left rule there. Left parties got only 16 seats in that election. Whereas for nearly three decades, the Left dominated power in Tripura.

Trinamool Congress has taken a dig at Biplab Kumar Deb’s resignation. Trinamool Congress tweeted saying, Biplab Kumar Deb has failed to live up to the aspirations of the people. He has already done a lot of damage. This is the reason why the top leadership of his party also got upset with his inaction. It is also being said that the BJP leadership has become uneasy with the TMC’s growing influence in Tripura.

Biplab Kumar Dev had tweeted a day ago, writing in it that met Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today. We had a detailed discussion about development works and organization.
