Tripura: Suspicious bag found at Agartala airport ahead of Abhishek Banerjee’s visit, investigation underway

TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee reached Agartala today. Let us tell you, there has been a stir after a suspicious bag was found near Abhishek Banerjee’s convoy at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. Police suspect that the bag may contain an explosive. This happened in the midst of the civic elections in Tripura. Let us tell you that earlier TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also going to reach Agartala for the rally but she was not allowed and her tour was cancelled.

The tussle between BJP and TMC has intensified after suspicious bags were found at the airport. The BJP, however, denied any involvement in the suspicious bag found at the Agartala airport. Airport officials told Republic Media Network they were checking the bags. Simultaneously, the police have cordoned off the entire area and a checking operation is being conducted.

Abhishek Banerjee targets BJP

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, Abhishek Banerjee hit out at the BJP and alleged that the BJP was violating constitutional rights. Apart from this, the TMC leader also attacked BJP for arresting party leaders. The TMC leader has urged people not to bow down to the BJP and oppose its goondaraj. Abhishek Banerjee has also alleged that the police in Tripura is working at the behest of the BJP.

‘TMC, BJP not allowed to rally’: Tripura Police

Tripura Police has informed that no permission has been given to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or All India Trinamool Congress to organize a roadshow or rally in Agartala on Monday. However, permission has been given to both the parties for street meetings. Ramesh Yadav, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Sadar said, “Neither BJP nor TMC is allowed to hold roadshow/rally in Agartala today. Both the parties have been given permission for street meetings. Till now no information has been given by TMC about the time when they will organize street meetings.
