PM Modi had said yesterday that Maharashtra, West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu did not listen to the words of the Central Government for some reason or the other and the citizens of those states continued to be burdened. By reducing VAT, you should give its benefits to the citizens. Opposition chief ministers raised questions on this statement of PM Modi.
New Delhi:
Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri petrol-diesel Has responded to the allegations leveled against the Central Government by the Chief Ministers of the opposition parties regarding the prices of sugarcane. Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that if opposition-ruled states cut taxes on fuel in exchange for imported liquor, petrol will become cheaper. He wrote in a post that “If the opposition ruled states reduce the tax on fuel in exchange for imported liquor, then petrol will be cheaper! The minister further wrote that the Maharashtra government charged ₹ 32.15/liter on petrol and the Congress-ruled Rajasthan charged ₹ 32.15/liter on it. 29.10/Litre, but only ₹14.51/Litre in BJP ruled Uttarakhand and ₹16.50/Litre in Uttar Pradesh. Protesting won’t change facts!”
In a tweet, Hardeep Singh Puri wrote that the Maharashtra government has collected Rs 79,412 crore as fuel tax since the year 2018 and is estimated to collect Rs 33,000 crore this year. Why doesn’t she reduce VAT on petrol and diesel to give relief to the people?
The truth hurts, but facts speak for themselves.
Maharshtra Govt has collected ₹79,412 crore as fuel taxes since 2018 & is expected to collect 33,000 cr this year. (Adding up to a whopping ₹1,12,757 cr). Why did it not reduce VAT on petrol & diesel to provide relief to people?— Hardeep Singh Puri (@HardeepSPuri) April 28, 2022
In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a review meeting with the Chief Ministers of the states on the status of Kovid-19 in the country through a video conferencing on Wednesday. During this, the PM also discussed about the price of petrol and diesel. He had said that the state government should reduce the burden on the citizens by reducing VAT. The PM had said that Maharashtra, West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu did not listen to the words of the Central Government for some reason or the other and the citizens of those states continued to be burdened. I pray that by reducing the VAT, which was to be done in November, you should benefit the citizens. Opposition chief ministers raised questions on this statement of PM Modi and held the central government responsible for the prices of petrol and diesel.
