A man cycled to the venue for his wedding ceremony here in protest against the high fuel prices in the country. The special thing is that the entire family and friends of the groom went on foot to attend the wedding held in the Unit-3 area of the city on Wednesday. Pictures of the procession were widely circulated on social media and many called it the “ideal wedding”. But appreciated. The groom Subhranshu Samal told that his family had arranged for a ‘flashy’ procession. “But I decided to use a cycle to reach the wedding pandal to register my protest against the rising fuel prices in the country,” he said.
Wearing wedding clothes, he covered a distance of about one kilometer on his bicycle. Samal said the overwhelming support from people for his unique protest surprised him. “Even the people standing there and passing passengers took selfies with Subhranshu, who was cycling.”
Samal said that many more people like him are disappointed about the rising price of petrol and diesel. He said, “Agitation near Raj Bhavan has become a common practice by political parties. As a person, I wanted to show my displeasure. Those sitting in power should know the anger of the people over the fuel prices.” The price of a liter of petrol in Bhubaneswar was Rs 112.56 and diesel was Rs 102.24 on Thursday.
