High speed vehicles on the road always become the cause of accidents. In which many people have to lose their lives. But still people do not take the name of improvement. Recently, the police arrested four college students who were openly flouting the rules. Along with this, his challan of Rs 25,500 was also deducted. Police said that they have also seized the black colored Mahindra Scorpio and initiated legal action to cancel the registration of the vehicle as well as the driving license of the person driving the vehicle.

A police spokesperson said that the Delhi-registered SUV was being speeded near Dalit Prerna Sthal in Phase 1 police station area on Thursday. Police took action in this matter after the alleged video of reckless driving went viral on social media on Thursday. A police spokesperson said, “Four accused have been arrested. They have been identified as Anshul, Tushar, Himanshu and Harjeet, aged between 20 and 22 years.”

According to the police, the driver has been booked under Section 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code, while a challan of Rs 25,500 has been issued against the four accused under Section 151 of the CrPC. The spokesperson said, “The Scorpio has been seized. A report has been sent to the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to initiate proceedings to cancel the registration of the car as well as the driving license of the driver.”

Police said that the challan has been sent to the local court and further legal action is being taken. The crackdown on rash driving comes at a time when the UP Police is running a month-long special campaign for road safety awareness. Thousands of road accidents and deaths have taken place in Uttar Pradesh in the last few years. According to official data, in 2022, Gautam Buddh Nagar district recorded over 400 road accident deaths.
