12 people, including 4 children, were injured when a volvo full of passengers overturned due to a steering jam on the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) Expressway on Wednesday morning. Police reached the spot and sent the injured to hospitals in Faridabad and Delhi for treatment. Police say that further action will be taken after recording the statements of the injured.
A Volvo bus carrying 30-40 passengers from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh was going to Panipat on Wednesday morning. The bus overturned near Jalhaka village under Chandhat police station area on KGP Expressway. As soon as the bus overturned, there was a scream of the passengers. The passersby stopped their vehicles and started helping the injured and informed the police station.
The police reached the spot, with the help of passers-by, sent the injured to Badshah Khan Hospital, Faridabad for treatment. Seeing the critical condition of the injured from there, they were referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Among the injured were Bhupendra (25), resident of Kasganj, Sunita (38), resident of Farrukhabad, Sunita’s daughter Purvi (6) and Khushboo (10), bus operator Adil and driver Salman and many others were injured.

Rajesh, a resident of Farrukhabad, aboard a Volvo bus, told that he works as a laborer (building, masonry) in Panipat and was going to Panipat with his family. The bus overturned at KGP Expressway. His wife Sunita, daughter Purvi and Khushboo were injured in the accident. There were 15 other people with him who were going from Farrukhabad to Panipat to work.
Accident due to steering jam
Adil, the bus operator under treatment at the hospital, said that the bus had boarded the KGP Expressway from Dasna to go from Hardoi to Panipat. Forgetting the way, the driver took the bus towards Palwal. The injured Adil told that he is also the driver, but Salman was driving the bus at that time. The accident took place due to a sudden steering jam near Jalahaka village.

Station in-charge Chandhat said that the Volvo bus was going from Hardoi (UP) to Panipat. It had 35 to 40 passengers. The bus overturned on the expressway in the limits of Jalhaka village. 10-12 women, men and children on the bus were injured in the accident. The injured were admitted to the hospitals for treatment. Police investigating officers have gone to take the statements of the injured. The negligence of the bus operator in the accident is coming to the fore. After getting the statements of the injured, further action will be taken after registering the case.
