State Bureau, Kolkata. Udayan Guha, North Bengal Development Minister in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet, said Trinamool Congress workers were not wearing bangles and two BJP workers would be beaten up if one of them was attacked. The remarks were made by Udayan Guha, MLA of Dinhata in Cooch Behar district, at a party meeting, shortly after BJP’s rallies turned violent in Kolkata and Howrah on Tuesday.
North Bengal Development Minister Guha said that we are not wearing bangles. If my people are attacked, we will not sit hand in hand. They must remember that if they beat one of us, we will beat two of their men.
Expect similar statements from TMC leaders: BJP
The BJP said similar statements are expected from Trinamool Congress leaders. At the same time, politics has become heated over such remarks by a minister. Questions are being raised whether a minister can say such things. BJP says that it becomes clear what is going on in Bengal.
BJP state spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said that the more the misdeeds of Trinamool Congress are being exposed, the more their leaders are getting frustrated and making such remarks out of desperation. Let us tell you that last Sunday, BJP procession was attacked and even bombs were hurled at Sheetalkuchi in Cooch Behar.

Slogans were being raised by the BJP in the procession regarding corruption and cash recovery, ‘Chor Dharo, Jail Bharo’. It is alleged that outraged by this slogan, Trinamool workers attacked the BJP procession and hurled bombs. This is not the first time that Udayan Guha has made a controversial statement. Earlier, he had made controversial remarks in the assembly regarding BSF, at that time he was not a minister.
