Women will become ‘Agniveer’: ‘Women-Jawan’ in Army, ‘Air-Woman’ in Air Force and ‘Woman-Sailor’ in Navy

The central government has launched the ‘Agneepath’ scheme, giving youth a chance to serve in the army, which is being opposed across the country. Meanwhile, the Defense Ministry said that women will also get a chance in this scheme. It will first start with the Navy. Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar has given this information. Under the Agniveer scheme, women will be selected for the post of ‘Sailor’. Similarly, there will be an appointment in the name of ‘Women Jawan’ in the Army and ‘Air-Woman’ in the Air Force. Training for the Navy will start in a month
Navy’s Vice Admiral DK Tripathi has made a big announcement regarding the recruitment of women Agniveers. He said that on June 25, the Navy will issue a notification for recruitment under the new scheme. The recruitment process will start within a month. The first batch of female and male Agniveers will report on INS Chilka. Women will also serve in the Navy for 3.5 years after taking six months of training like men. Out of these, 25% of women Agniveers will be made permanent on the basis of further merit.

On November 21, the first batch of Agniveer in the Navy will report to the training institute.

What kind of responsibilities can be assigned to women sailors? What work will she do in the Navy? In response, Retired Commandant Sanjeev Walia told that women Agniveer can serve in 7 different departments of Navy.

Navigator and traffic controller will perform well in Navy
Women in the Navy, even if they are not in the rank of officer, can still work in the Aviation Metrological System ie Aviation Meteorological Department. She can do the job of Observer and Navigator in ATC i.e. Air Traffic Control Department. Sanjeev Walia says that there are good opportunities for women sailors in this department, as women have been seen to perform better than men in this work. She can do well in the communication department.

Retired Commandant Sanjeev Walia says such a plan is already running in many countries like Israel and China.  Agneepath will increase the feeling of patriotism among the youth.

Women can join the staff duty at the Headquarters in Law and Education Branch. Can manage supply and purchase work in the logistics department. May be involved in research work by being a part of the inspection team in the Naval Armament Inspection Branch. Can handle the responsibility as a nurse in the medical branch.

‘Air-Woman’ to be made in Air Force
Never before in the Indian Air Force did a woman get a chance to become an Airman. Women below the rank of officer were not appointed in the Air Force. But in the meantime, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary says that women have been approved for the post of Agniveer in the Air Force as well. Let us inform that the restoration of Agniveers in the Air Force will start from June 24. Notification will be issued for this.

A total of 83 recruitment rallies will be held across the country, rallies will be held in two batches from August to November.

In the current system, women could apply in the Air Force only for the rank of officer. She may also be considered eligible for the post of Air-Woman (Air-man) under Agniveer Scheme.

Preference will be given to women soldiers in army police
For the first time in the year 2019, a decision was taken to recruit women soldiers in the Indian Army. In 2021, 100 women applied, out of which 83 women were selected to join the army after giving military training. These women soldiers were deployed in the Corps of Military Police (CMP). It was for the first time that women were included in the recruitment without officer rank in the army.

Additional Secretary, Department of Military Affairs (DMA), Lt Gen Anil Puri, on the Agneepath scheme, says that women will be recruited as per the service requirements in Agneepath. Although nothing is being said clearly about which post and for which duty they will be posted, but it is believed that till now the work being done by women soldiers, the work should also be done by women firefighters.
