Women’s World Cup: Team India had confirmed their place in the last-four by defeating Ireland on Monday. However, the group positions were not finalized then. After England’s win on Tuesday, India climbed to the second spot in the group position. With this, the Indian women’s team will face Australia in the semi-finals. Team India was the runner up in the 2020 T20 World Cup and Australia won. This time the Indian team will come down with the intention of taking revenge from Australia.

England ended Group B with four wins and eight points from four matches. The team topped their group. At the same time, the Indian team finished second in Group-B. Team India had confirmed their place in the last-four by defeating Ireland on Monday. However, the group positions were not finalized then. West Indies finished third, Pakistan fourth and Ireland fifth from Group-B and were eliminated from the World Cup. Now the equations of the semi-final matches have almost come to the fore.

India will face world champions Australia in the semi-finals. The first semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup will be played between India and Australia on February 23 at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. At the same time, the second semi-final will be played in Cape Town on 24 February. The title match will be played in Cape Town on 26 February. Team India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, would also like to avenge their defeat in the final of the 2020 T20 World Cup by defeating Australia in the semi-finals. So far 30 T20 matches have been played between the two teams. Of these, the Indian team has won only six matches, while Australia has won 22. One match tied and one match remained inconclusive.

Both the teams have come face to face five times in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Out of these, Team India has won two matches and Australia has won three matches. The good thing for India is that out of the last three matches played in the Women’s T20 World Cup, the team has won two. In 2018, India defeated Australia by 48 runs. In 2020, India defeated Australia by 17 runs in the group stage before the final. Earlier, the Australian team had won the 2010 and 2012 T20 World Cups.
