Some wrestlers can also be heard chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ along with Karat present at the venue. Opportunistic Left leaders had come with the intention of making the wrestlers’ protest a political issue, but were shown the way out by the champions of India.
Why are our champions protesting?
WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is being demanded to be removed from the post by wrestlers making serious allegations of corruption, mental harassment and sexual abuse. Commonwealth Games 2022 gold medalist Vinesh Phogat said that wrestlers cannot even have water without the permission of the coach, who is constantly in touch with the WFI president and keeps him informed about everything that happens during training. Phogat also accused WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexually abusing women wrestlers.
